Olympia High School | 1302 North Street, Olympia 98501

Please join us on Wednesday, February 26, 2025 from 5:30 to 7:00 pm. in the Olympia High School Library as we host a special account opening event for the Personal Finance Class students at OHS. At this event students that are a part of Cheryl McCauley, Skip Fabritius or Jill Nelson’s class will have a chance to open one of OlyFed’s exclusive Student Saver CDs (Details Below) for their personal savings needs.

OlyFed’s team of knowledgeable and caring bankers will be onsite to answer your questions and to help you open an account.  This is a great opportunity to gain insights about budgeting and saving, the importance of compounding interest and investing at an early age.

Students will need two forms of ID to open an account. A drivers license or government issued photo id (passport) will work for primary identification purposes and a student id or birth certificate will work for a secondary id. Students under the age of 18 will need a legal guardian to join them in order to open an account. We look forward to seeing you at the event and please don’t hesitate to contact Ryan Betz if you have any questions.

Complimentary pizza and refreshments will be provided. RSVP using the form below.

Student Saver CD Details

Our Student Saver CD is a 12-month certificate of deposit that allows students to save up to $1,000, while receiving the highest rate possible (the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation (FDIC) Cap Rate). This CD provides a tool for students to save as contributions to the account can be added at any time, while teaching the power of compounding interest.

The $1,000 maximum balance gives students a reasonable savings goal to work towards. This account also provides flexibility as students are able to withdraw their funds at anytime for any reason without penalty.  Even better, it is only $10 to open the account, and OlyFed will cover the opening deposit for students participating in a financial education class at any Thurston or Mason County high school.

The 12-month Student Saver Certificate of Deposit is a fixed rate for the term. The APY is accurate as of the date of account opening per the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation (FDIC) Cap Rate and is subject to change anytime. Annual Percentage Yield (APY) assumes interest earned remains on deposit until maturity. The minimum balance to open the account is $10 and the minimum balances to earn the stated APY is $10. The maximum balance for the account is $1,000.00. You may withdrawal all funds including interest earned, without penalty, any time on or after the seventh day following the date on which the account was funded.  Withdrawals during the first six days after the account is opened are subject to a seven day interest penalty. No partial withdrawals are allowed. Fees may reduce earnings. Terms and conditions apply.
