The SAO reported stolen data files potentially contained personal information (Names, Social Security Numbers, Bank Account Numbers, Bank Routing Numbers, etc.) of Washington residents who filed unemployment insurance claims in 2020.
It’s important to note that OlyFed is not involved in the Accellion data breach and no customer information was taken from OlyFed; however, if you applied for unemployment this past year, you may be impacted by this breach.
Due to the size and scale of this breach, we know some of our customers may be affected and we wanted to reach out and touch base to provide some resources and support. Below are some recommended steps you can take to protect your accounts:
- Place a code word on your account if you do not have one. This can be done by calling us at (360) 754-3400.
- Monitor your account for unusual activity. You are not responsible for fraud if you report it to us in a timely manner. Regular monitoring of your account is your best course of action to protect yourself, so please notify us right away if you see any unusual activity.
- Sign up for Card Control, which provides transaction alerts along with the ability to customize and define when, where and how your debit card is used. You can do this within Digital Banking.
- Consider placing a fraud alert on your credit report. An initial fraud alert is free and will stay on your credit file for one year. The alert informs creditors of possible fraudulent activity and it tells creditors to contact you prior to establishing any credit/accounts in your name. To place a fraud alert, contact the three credit reporting agencies below:
- Protect yourself from phishing scams. These scams typically come in the form of email and text messages that seem legitimate. The deceptive message will usually include a call to action or an invitation to check out a link in hopes of you giving thieves your personal or financial information. Please contact us if you are unsure if a message is a legitimate communication from OlyFed or a reputable source.
