What does doing the right thing look like? This is an essential question when any individual or organization looks at its values. It is the core question we ask every time we are presented with an opportunity to serve you, our customer.
From the products we design and deliver to the personalized care and support we provide to advance your well-being; the right thing is about doing the next best thing in the best interests of those we serve, which includes our community.
This is the real advantage of our mutual banking business model. Accountable to you, not shareholders, we measure our success not solely by profitability, but rather by the financial, economic and social good we create for others.
While a mutual bank’s ownership is structured similar to a credit union, we are different in that we are focused on helping more people become homeowners through affordable lending and housing options and we are held responsible for reinvesting in our community through social, economic and taxable infrastructures. In short, doing the greatest good for the greater good is baked into our DNA.
In fact, we believe purpose is not necessarily what you do, but how you do it. This is why later this fall we are excited to launch:
- A new savings account specifically designed for first-time home buyers,
- A new youth checking account to help young people earn and save more,
- And lastly and probably most importantly, a new college and high school affinity card program that expands our Two Cent program to support student activities and scholarships. These custom branded school debit cards allow local area students, staff, alumni and community supporters to bank with pride and purpose and every time a school’s debit card is used, two cents is donated to that school’s designated fund.
These are just more ways we continue to strive and demonstrate how banking that’s mutual is banking that’s better. And banking that’s better, means more for your finances, your future and your friends and family that call our community home.
Sincerely,
Josh Deck
