OlyFed Receives Honor as One of the Best Banks to Work For in the Nation

Independent Banker magazine, the award-winning publication of the Independent Community Bankers of America (ICBA), has named Olympia Federal Savings (OlyFed) as a 2025 Best Community Banks to Work For honoree. The $1.03 billion-asset community bank was recognized for its people-first philosophy, community-driven culture, and investment in employee well-being and growth.

With nine branches across Washington’s South Puget Sound region, OlyFed’s 115 employees contribute more than 1,500 volunteer hours annually and serve on over 40 nonprofit boards. This deep connection to community is matched by a workplace culture built on transparency, shared success, and genuine care.

Our team shows up each day with purpose, knowing they’re contributing to something bigger than themselves. That’s what keeps our culture strong.”

In addition to full health coverage and a robust profit-sharing program, OlyFed offers daily team huddles, internal mentorship programs, and employee appreciation events that reflect the bank’s commitment to fostering connection and celebrating service. In the past five years the bank has donated $2 million to local causes, which is 10% to 20% of its annual profits, underscoring its philanthropic spirit.

“Community banks like Olympia Federal Savings demonstrate how culture becomes a competitive advantage,” said ICBA President and CEO Rebeca Romero Rainey. “From service-driven leadership to shared prosperity, OlyFed shows how putting people first — every employee, customer, and neighbor — builds trust and deepens impact. We’re proud to celebrate their example.”

OlyFed is featured in Independent Banker’s December 2025 issue, representing community banks in the $751 million to $1 billion asset category at the time of its publishing. Honorees were selected based on an employee survey conducted by Avannis, an independent research agency, which evaluated factors such as corporate culture, leadership, compensation, work environment, and advancement opportunities.
