OlyFed Announces Board Appointment & Retirement

Olympia Federal Savings (OlyFed) is pleased to announce the appointment of John Maxwell to another three-year term on the bank’s board of directors. The local mutual bank also recognizes John Warjone for his 24 years of service to OlyFed as he retires from the board of directors and is honored with Board Emeritus status.

Warjone, was appointed to the OlyFed board in January of 2000 and he has played an instrumental role in the bank’s growth and development over the years. A well respected and connected business leader, Warjone served as President of Port Blakely’s Tree Farms Timber Division and was responsible for the initiation of Port Blakely’s Habitat Conservation Plan and was a member of the team responsible for company’s investments in New Zealand.

In 2019, Warjone was elected to the World Forestry Leadership Hall for his 36 years of service and sustainable practices during his time with Port Blakely. Warjone and his wife Sally are very active in the community and have served and supported Providence Health System as well as the Hands on Children’s Museum and Pacific Education Institute.

Maxwell, who also joined the board in 2000, is a retired Senior Vice President with HDR Engineering where he focused primarily on environmental and economic development projects. A graduate of Washington State University, Maxwell enjoys spending time farming in Eastern Washington. Maxwell is a past board member with United Way of Thurston County and his wife Darlene is a retired teacher in the Tumwater School District.
